Over the past year, the AquaPals reached out to a plethora of different environmental advocacy groups in the Hudson Valley that have also expressed concerns about PCBs in the Hudson River such as Riverkeeper, Scenic Hudson, Environmental Advocates of NY, and many others. In addition, we have worked with prestigious universities to better understand aquaponics. We had a video conference with Cornell University’s aquaponics project manager, Matthew Moghaddam, to learn about their work with Koi and strawberries. As an expert in the field, he gave us advice on filtration and sustainability. AquaPals Emme and Spencer visited and collaborated with the aquaponics team at Johns Hopkins. We also had an article published in Hudson Valley News about the AquaPals. The article educated our community about the work that we are doing with aquaponics as an alternative t
o the PCB contaminated fish in the Hudson River! The best part about our project has been educating our community about aquaponics. We have taught over 20 classes to students K-12 at Arlington and it has been so rewarding for our team! In total, we have taught over 500 Arlington High School students, faculty, and alumni, and we plan to continue to increase that number. Check out our YouTube to watch some videos of us teaching and to get to know us!
