Today, we started an experiment to determine how climate affects aquaponic growth. In this, we created two different habitats, one with cold water (13 degrees celsius) and one with warm water (25 degrees celsius). We hope to determine which habitat fosters growth and determine where aquaponics systems are most suitable in the world. We hypothesize that the warm water environment will increase growth rates. Thus, we connect this to global climate change and rising ocean temperatures. We believe that increased temperatures will increase growth and thus aquaponics provides a perfect agricultural form as the future becomes ever so uncertain. Agriculture must become increasingly sustainable, and we hope that this experiment proves the versatility of aquaponics and inspires others to pursue aquaponics! Will keep you updated.
