Exciting AquaPal News Alert! We are working on a major project to spread aquaponics throughout our beautiful Hudson Valley. That starts NOW! First, we will be working on a system to donate to Poughkeepsie High School. This district neighbors Arlington, but we have little connections between us and them. Through donating a system to Poughkeepsie, we hope to form long lasting connections between the districts, and bolster their science program. Poughkeepsie lies in the heart of the PCB contamination crisis and we would love to assist in their struggles. Poughkeepsie has had difficulties successfully entering the Lexus EcoChallenge, and we truly hope that partnering with them will allow them to win in the future!

The other system that we would like to donate will be to a local farm in the Hudson Valley. This farm seeks to expand their sustainability and would like to produce crops all year round. This is so vital, as the farm lies in Gardiner, a food desert. A food desert is a place that has very limited access to food supplies. This means, that there is not a real grocery store within a few miles of their farm. As a result, an aquaponics system will allow this farm to be more sustainable, and provide crops for their community. They will be able to feed their family and sell to the Gardiner community. We hope that this system will allow people access to food in the most sustainable manner.

Stay tuned for updates with our systems! Our next entry will detail the construction process of these systems, so that hopefully you will make one too!!
