Since winning the Lexus EcoChallenge, our mission has been to globalize our aquaponics efforts, spreading safe access to food for the world to enjoy. Now, we have finally started making great progress with that goal. Through the power of social media, we connected with aspiring aquaponics farmers throughout the world and here are their stories:

Billy, from Indonesia, is currently trying to set up his very own aquaponics system for his own pleasure and feeding of his community. But, he has hit a few road blocks along the way. After adding ammonia to his water, he hoped that it would cycle through so that he could start plants. Unfortunately, he added the fish too early and they went into shock. Fortunately, this story has a happy ending. The AquaPals stepped in to send "aqua-care" packages to Billy all the way across the world. We sent him the materials that he will need to monitor his water chemical levels and the bacteria that is necessary for the cycling to take place. The video below shows him opening his package!

Another farmer in Indonesia asked us for help to provide food for his family farm. This farm provides Rusman with food for his family. This is especially important for him, as a lot of his land is no longer arable due to mining. Through sending supplies to Rusman's farm, we have helped to spread aquaponics to his community and provide food sources without having access to fertile soil.

We sent these amazing aquaponics farmers supplies to keep their systems running and help them provide for their families and communities. So many environmental issues can be addressed through aquaponics: pollution, lack of arable land, food shortages... This is evidence of the myriad ways that aquaponics can be utilized in every situation for every person.
